STEM Sports K-2 Multi-Sport Kit

For the long-time STEM Sports® supporters, you may know that we have always said that we supply turnkey K-8 curricula kits that combine STEM and sports.

Was this true? Sort of. We had yet to explore K-2 and now we are taking that statement to new levels.

Recently, we released additions and updates to all of our curricula. This included grade differentiations for grades 3-5 and grades 6-8. This was done in order to maximize student success in each of our modules, as well as to better align with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and Common Core State Standards (CCSS). And, we’ve added alignments to the National Standards for K-12 Physical Education, when possible. Now, we are excited to announce a new addition to our curricula offerings: STEM Sports K-2 Multi-Sport!  Our STEM Multi-Sport K-2 is a fun, new, and novel way to introduce motor skills, spatial awareness, and movement patterns to students in K-2.

Turnkey Curriculum

The K-2 Multi-Sport curriculum consists of eight modules that teach kindergarten, first grade and second grade students science concepts using basketball, football, golf and soccer. The modules break down the science aspects of these sports and provide varying levels of physical activity for the youth involved. They will think they are playing while learning about, for examples:

  • The behavior of a soccer ball by determining which soccer drills increase and decrease the speed of the ball.
  • Basketball shoes and the students will learn about the Engineering Design Process (EDP) by designing their very own shoes.
  • Playing catch and finding the ideal distance between players using the Scientific Method.
  • How the force of their golf swing relates to accuracy and precision using PGA-licensed ShortGolf® clubs.

When purchased, the K-2 Multi-Sport full kit comes with everything needed to implement the lessons in a classroom, after-school program or summer camp. The materials provided are:

  • (1) teacher’s manual
  • six (6) 25.5-inch youth outdoor basketballs
  • six (6) pee-wee footballs
  • six (6) foam footballs
  • six (6) size 3 soccer balls

All of our products, both manual only and the turnkey kits, come equipped with easy and intuitive teaching manuals. Our curriculum is created by educators for educators! We do this to ensure both teacher and student success throughout the modules.

You will often hear the claim that our teaching directions are so detailed a student could lead the lessons with the teachers there for guidance. This is true! STEM Sports® is committed to improving STEM literacy using 21st century skills.

By letting students guide themselves through active learning, they are gaining leadership, problem-solving, communication and many more skills that are useful in life and their future careers.

NGSS, CCSS and the National Standards for K-12 Physical Education

As an education company, STEM Sports® knows the importance of curricula aligning with education standards. K-2 Multi-Sport, as with our other curricula, aligns with NGSS, CCSS and National Standards for K-12 Physical Education.

In creating this curriculum for K-2 students specifically, the standards are able to align directly with where the students are in their learning process. STEM exposure at a young age is important for future success in these subjects! By giving students a fun and positive experience with STEM in kindergarten, first grade and second grade, they will be more inclined to continue to enjoy STEM and welcome STEM class opportunities in the future!

Future Forward Learning and Teaching
